A road worker has been taken to Wellington Regional Hospital after being hit by a car involved in a two-car crash in the Wellington suburb of Wadestown.
A Capital & Coast District Health Board spokesman said he was in a stable condition.
Wadestown Rd was closed between Lytton St and Blackbridge Rd following the crash which happened shortly after 2.15pm on Tuesday.
The driver of one of the vehicles was also taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
The crash occurred on a tight bend in the road.
Wadestown residents spoken to said the roadworks had been ongoing for about three weeks while the footpaths were renewed.
