One person has died in a car crash near Palmerston North Airport and four others were taken to hospital.
St John Ambulance reported that two patients taken to Palmerston North Hospital had serious injuries and two had moderate injuries. One person died at the scene.
Two cars crashed near the intersection of Railway Rd and Roberts Line, Milson, about 12.35pm on Friday.
The police serious crash unit is investigating.
One of the vehicles, a four-wheel-drive, had only the driver, and a sedan had four people in it. The person killed was in the sedan.
Police put up cordons at the intersection of Airport Drive and Railway Rd and diversions were in place. Motorists were asked to avoid the area, but the road was reopened in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, one person was taken to hospital after a crash near Woodville at 11.30am on Friday.
Emergency services were called to a crash between a car and a motorcycle near the intersection of Masterton Rd and Priest Rd, just south of Woodville.
The road was not blocked.
